Here is the question for the authors for January: Everyone
is making New Year's resolutions.
B
J Daniels:
Rita Herron: For my January 2006 book, Vows of Vengeance, my hero would definitely make a resolution not to fall for the same trap he did when he met his wife--he fell for her hard and fast, but she disappeared on their wedding night, leaving him to wonder if she was dead or alive. But of course, when she turns up a year later, and is arrested for murder, he has to step in and help and soon that resolution flies out the window just as my resolution to lose five pounds does each time I see a box of Reese's Peanut Butter cups! Elle James: In Beneath the Texas Moon (Mar 06), my heroine is Eve. Her New Year's resolution would be to help her son make a full recovery from his traumatic experience. She dearly wants to hear the sweet sound of his voice again. Her other resolution would be to discover who or what is killing the local livestock near the small Texas town of Spirit Canyon. Mallory Kane: In Lullabies and Lies, (Feb 06), my heroine Sunny Loveless would make the same New Year's Resolution she makes every year--to bring a happy ending to as many people as possible through Loveless, Inc., her detective agency that specializes in happy endings. When her adopted baby daughter is kidnapped, she needs a hero who can see through her lies and help her find her own happy ending. Griffin Stone would never make a New Year's resolution. Luckily for him, Sunny's resolution encompasses them both. Susan Kearney: My heroine's number one resolution would be to accomplish her life time goal--put an end to the biological burden that makes all women on her world required to have sex to regenerate their cells or they die. The Ultimatum is my third book in a series of paranormal books that I'm doing for Tor. Many Intrigue readers who have never tried this kind of book but who have enjoyed my Intrigues, have enjoyed my bigger books. Since each book stands alone, you can jump right into the series. And The Ultimatum, (Feb 06) is one of my favorites. Who can resist a woman kidnapped by her worst enemy--who must make love to him to stay alive? I certainly had fun writing The Ultimatum and hope Intrigue readers will give it a try. Sylvie Kurtz: Both Gray (Eye of a Hunter, Aug 05,) and Dom (Pride of a Hunter, Sep 05) are going to shuffle their priorities around. Their adventures this year have taught them that five years from now, no one at work might remember what they've done for the company, but their families will sure remember if they weren't around for them when they needed them. They'll put family first--not just lip service, but through their actions and choices. Dana Marton: I think my hero and heroine from Rogue Soldier would resolve not ever to take love for granted again. They had let others and circumstances get between them in the past. This time, when they meet again, both come to realize just how precious what they have between them is. This time, they let no one and nothing (including bomb toting Siberian weapon smugglers and grizzly bears) stand in the way of their happiness. Julie Miller: My next Precinct hero, District Attorney Dwight Powers, would probably scoff at the idea of making New Year's resolutions. After living through an unspeakable tragedy, he figures he's doing good to just get through the next day, much less the next year. He does have one resolution he lives by--every day of the year--and that's keeping the man who murdered his family in prison. My heroine, Maddie Powers, on the other hand, is more of an optimist. While their story, Search and Seizure (Feb 06) revolves around her resolve to find her missing niece and the girl's newborn baby, I think she still has enough hope inside her to wish and dream. Nothing so mundane as losing those extra thirty pounds that make her more Rubenesque than she'd like to be, but certainly something more transcendent--like, "Please help Dwight Powers find his heart again--without breaking mine in the process." Rebecca York: Nicholas Vickers, the hero of The Secret Night, (Apr 06) is a vampire. He's given up on New Year's resolutions because he knows they won't do him any good. He understands that there's no escape from his long lonely life--until he meets Emma Birmingham, a woman who has the courage to challenge everything he's come to understand about his life. |
